International Students
Accommodation and Airport Pickup
MGIT can assist students with Airport Pickup and organising a variety of accommodation including rental of an apartment, home stay, student lodgings and share accommodation.
If you require accommodation and/or Airport Pickup you must advise MGIT of your arrival details, flight number, date and time of arrival at least three weeks prior to your arrival. There is a fee of $150 for an Airport Pickup.
Family
In some cases, family members can accompany students to Australia during their study. Please refer to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship for more information http://www.immi.gov.au/students/bringbfamily
Please note: Any school-aged dependents accompanying a student may be required to enrol and pay full fees if they are enrolled in a public (government-owned) or private school.
Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS)
Students are encouraged to read the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Framework in order to develop a great understanding of how MIS Global Technologies operates to service its International Students. A copy of this can be found at www.aei.dest.gov.au/AEI/ESOS/EasyGuide_ESOS.htm
The requirements for a Student Visa application are as follow:
- A Letter of Offer from MGIT
- An electronic confirmation of enrolment
- A medical examination as required by regulations
- Proof of financial support as required
- Citizens of certain countries may need to obtain a Pre-Visa Assessment from the Australian Diplomatic Mission before making any payment to MGIT
Health Costs
As an International Student, it is a condition of your student visa that you have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the entire duration of your stay in Australia. OSHC gives you access to out-of-hospital and in-hospital medical services to help you maintain your health. This may cost anywhere between $345 - $970, depending on what coverage you take out and for how long you get cover for. Medibank Private is one such provider. Language, Numeracy and Literacy
International Students are required to have an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent. For more information about Language Requirements visit: http://www.immi.gov.au/students/english-requirements.htm.
Students will be required to sit a brief English exam in order to authenticate that they have the necessary language, literacy and numeracy skills. Students experiencing difficulty with language, numeracy or literacy at any stage of their studies may access support by making an enquiry to any MGIT staff. In the event that the required support exceeds MGIT's abilities, the student will be referred to the appropriate NEAS College.
